"Makeup, as we know it, has only been commercially available in the last 100 years, but applying decoration to the face and body may be one of the oldest global social practices.”
London-based makeup artiste, Lisa Eldridge has added another shade to her palette of achievements with her first book, ‘Face Paint: The Story of Makeup’.

In ‘Face Paint’, the red carpet specialist with over 20 years of experience in the industry reveals the history of makeup, from Egyptian ages through the Victorian age and the golden era of Hollywood, and surveys the science of cosmetics for what lies ahead in it. Poem :: There will come a day

There will come a day,
When the newness of this phase will fade away,
And, the darkness that festers within,
Will crush me over and find its way -
There will come a day.

There will come a day,
When the emptiness will engulf again,
The only constant my life has known,
It yearns to be out this chain -
There will come a day.

There will come a day,
When a safe green field will wither away,
The sky will go dark, and
The strength of the earth will stray -
There will come a day.

And, when the colours lose light,
I'll wish for the rage,
To tear me open, consume me,
Drown me in your depths, I'll plead -
There will come a day.

When the shadow will emerge a victor,
And its foundations are stronger,
It pulls me under with a force to wonder;
It's a homecoming; a cold welcome -
There will come a day.

And on this day, when it all happens again,
The interminable cycle of doom and despair,
I know I'll be lost in a tumultuous haze;
There's no escaping my demons' lair -
There will come a day...
